The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is responsible for regulating
National and Minimal Standards and regulations for independent health
care.
- All private doctors of any sort in any kind of practice need to register
by law.
- This is an expensive, intensive time consuming process.
- Each establishment must reflect the following:
- Patient centred services
- Patient Information
- Accountability
- Safety and Quality Assurance
- Consistency
Dr Julian Kenyon for the Dove Clinic for Integrated Medicine has been
through the Care Quality Commission Process to form a template,
which the rest of the Society could use. This process also covers all
complementary therapists. If any wish further advice on this, contact
Julian Kenyon on jkenyon@doveclinic.com .
Advice is available at the Twyford/Winchester clinic of the Dove Clinic
for Integrated Medicine, run by the Dove Clinic's Clinic Manager, Clare Robinson on how to go through the Care Quality Commission process. There
will be a charge made for these sessions which will last half a day.
It is suggested that groups may like to go along so that the change for
the session can be divided amongst the group. Protocols and health and
safety documents are available to members of the BSIM at a charge from
the Dove Clinic for Integrated Medicine, to provide a template which
would enable members to go through the Care Quality Commission
process more easily.
Using this
method, it would be possible for each doctor and complementary practitioner
to register at minimal cost. The cost of registering for the Dove Clinic
for Integrated Medicine, has been expensive, mostly with staff costs
in excess of £65,000. This however, has provided a
template which should enable each individual doctor and complementary
therapist to register at relatively minimal cost.
The GMC will require Care Quality Commission Inspection by all member
doctors in order to approve and appraisal process, which will in turn
lead to re-validation.
